I’ve realized throughout this whole process that I have not written a blog regarding why I chose to embark on this journey.

Quick answer: The Lord called me to it.

Detailed response: I heard about the World Race back in 2017. It was mentioned to me and it sounded pretty cool. It kept popping back up in my head and I did more and more research about it. I talked to a college friend that had gone on it and she told me about her experiences and I fell in love. I have always loved missions but always short term; go do the mission and come back home. So to hear that this one was for 11 months, honestly there was hesitation because this was way longer than a week somewhere. But after talking to my friend, research and prayer for the year of 2018 the Lord really laid on my heart to pursue this trip. I applied Christmas of 2018 and got accepted to go.

I realize that right at home there are people who do not know the gospel and there are mission fields right in our own home. Both fields are so important. In America there are churches on just about every corner, billboards, and a freedom to worship where most other countries do not have that freedom. I truly felt the Lord calling me to places where the Gospel has been introduced and places where the Gospel is not as popular. I know without a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is going to use my team and I to do amazing works through Him to glorify His name! So why overseas? To spread the gospel to places not as popular.

When I tell you that doubt and fear have not crossed my mind in all of this, I’m serious. God has done a work in my heart and mind to ease any anxiousness that would arise from this journey. God has filled my heart with peace, confidence, and a boldness that surpasses my understanding.

I am thrilled to discover more of who I am in the Lord and to see him work in ways I never even knew.

  1. That’s super cool Erica! He always gives us just what we need right when we need it! Beyond our understanding … agreed…

  2. I love what you have said here, “I know without a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is going to use my team and I to do amazing works through Him to glorify His name! ”
It is so true and I cannot wait to see what He is going to do through you and your team!
