A year ago we were boarding a plane to head to Nicaragua. I am amazed that an entire year has passed by. Although this year was tough and I could have never expected or planned how this year could have gone, one thing I do know is that the Lord is good.

I decided to sit with the Lord and ask him 20 things that I learned, got to experience, or grow in this past year.

Here they are:

1. I learned to fully release all expectations.

2. Driving through the west is a beautiful site.

3. Camping is not for me, but I don’t hate it.

4. Boldness in evangelism.

5. Having hard conversations is difficult, but can produce wonderful fruit.

6. Freedom in worship.

7. The Lord opened a world of theology, specifically in Mormonism.

8. Surrender is hard, but necessary.

9. Follow through and remain consistent.

10. The Lord always provides opportunities when you ask for them.

11. Be vulnerable with those you trust, not everyone deserves your pearls.

12. Sometimes we just need to listen, make sure you take time to listen to others. Everyone wants to be heard.

13. Boundaries are key in every relationship.

14. Psalm 23 and the song “To You” by Maverick City were my strongholds.

15. Christianity and Kingdom living is uncomfortable, get used to it.

16. Face your problems head on with the Lord, don’t run from them.

17. I grew in humility and patience.

18. Understanding that true heartfelt reconciliation is heavily needed if we hold the Bible to its highest authority.

19. Demons are real. Don’t fear them. Stand firm in the truth of Jesus Christ.

20. Take life day by day and moment by moment.

This past year was a whirlwind of a rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything. Thankful for the pain, trials, and hardships endured because I only grew stronger in Christ from them. I pray for 2021 and that the Lord’s hand continues to guide my steps, no matter what is thrown my way. Thank you 2020 for the things I’ve learned and walked through.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

– Romans 8:28

  1. Reflection is such an important part of growth. I need to sit down and formulate those things from 2020 that made me better. God is always more than good to me. Thank you for reminding me to stop and reflect.

  2. A good word. I appreciate your ability, actually your will and desire to always seek the Lord for what He is doing right in front of you, be it joyful or challenging. You are such a beautiful woman of God and such a blessing of encouragement! You are an example of what strength and reliance looks like to walk and press into Jesus! You go girl!
